Dirty Carnivore Electrolyte Space Jello

Let’s be honest, all of the “carnivores” out there who consume keto fat bombs and berries once in a while are actually “dirty carnivores” rather than true carnivores. Claiming to be “Carnivores” while chowing down on a packaged desserts and fruit confuses anyone else who is already perplexed about what the carnivore diet is. Even more so when salads are involved. But don’t get me wrong, I fully support “dirty carnivore” recipes as a stepping-stone. I like to have options for people to make the diet more accessible. The easiest approach to conceptualize dirty carnivore eating is to think of it as an all-meat and dairy/eggs diet that gets turned into a dirty carnivore diet when you regularly add in anything that is heavily processed, plant-based, or very low-quality meats with additives (think McDonald’s beef patties).

So how do we as humans make the successful transition from a “mostly animal-based diet” to a full-on carnivore species appropriate diet? We need to acknowledge that we are addicted to processed foods, carbohydrates, vices, and foods full of oxalates. Don’t believe me? Cut down your carbs to under 15g per day for a week and do not eat any processed packed shelf-stable foods. Do not eat any vegetables or fruits. No caffeine. No alcohol. No supplements. No cheating. Just a pure detox. Then tell me how your body responds to it. The first 48hrs are going to be the 9 circles of hell. Topped off with some personal time with the Cenobites and Pinhead.

But let me say this, it is absolutely “okay” to have some sugar-free keto fat bombs, fruit, or salad if the goal is to eventually transition to a full carnivore diet. I think dirty carnivore recipes are absolutely fantastic for people who want to use them as a tool to transition off the current diet they are on. Many people fail the carnivore diet because they don’t have the tools, recipes, or resources to make the transition easier for them. The key to being successful on this diet is about weaning yourself off the foods that harm your body slowly, while upping the nutrient dense animal-foods that heal you. Eventually, you will be eating animal-foods at every meal and won’t even think twice about keto bars, a handful of summer berries or a crisp chopped salad.

How does cannabis weave into all of this? We have an endocannabinoid system that actually has receptors for cannabinoids found in cannabis. When our body is homeostasis, it has no need for cannabis as it is happy. But if negative environmental, lifestyle, genetics, stress, diet and nutrition, alcohol consumption, or health factors are present, the system can become unbalanced, and we now have an endocannabinoid deficiency. This results in things like migraines, fibromyalgia, mood disorders, behavior problems, anxiety, depression, bowl issues, and metabolic issues like not being able to lose weight.

Using cannabis as medicine can restore this balance in the body when combined with a proper carnivore diet. With the goal being, to eventually transition off the cannabis. Think of cannabis as a little dirty carnivore helper, that is going to be the last plant you see before you are 100% successful and in homeostasis. And also think of it as a tool to put in your back pocket in case the unfortunate event of disease in the future causes your body to fall out of homeostasis again. Life happens. Just remember, cannabis is medicine so use it wisely.

  • When the kettle whistles, add 2 1/2 cups of boiling hot water to the ceramic bowl. Whisk mixture 1-2 minutes until everything is dissolved.
  • Refrigerate for 4 hours until set.

Notes

  • Cannabis is technically not strict Carnivore; however, I see plants as medicine as long as they are extracted correctly and used only when needed. Some may view this as “Dirty Carnivore”.
  • Using sugar-free options is not strict Carnivore. However, if you are transitioning onto the Carnivore lifestyle, adding these “dirty carnivore” elements will help you make the switch with ease.

FAQs

Can I make these without weed?
Of course! These recipes taste amazing both infused and not!

What are the best electrolytes to use?
Any sugar-free electrolytes will do for this dirty carnivore Jello. Just remember, if it is flavored or has color additives to it, that is what your Jello will taste and look like. For example, I used Gatorade Prime Powder in Ice Pop. You can also make your own with salt and other minerals if you have the inclination.

How to Store Dirty Carnivore Electrolyte Space Jello
It is recommended to keep the Jello covered in a ceramic bowl with a lid so that it does not absorb any odors from the fridge. We keep baking soda in the fridge to keep it smelling clean. But if you put something in there that is potent near the Jello like a Durian, the Jello can absorb the smell if there is no cover.

How Long Does It Last?
The Jello will last up to 5 days in the fridge by itself for maximum freshness!
