Carnivore Venison Stew

The Comfort of Winter: A Bowl of Venison Stew

As the winter chill settles in the PNW and frost paints the world in a crisp white shimmer, there’s nothing quite as comforting as a hearty bowl of venison stew. Rich, savory, and brimming with robust flavors, venison stew isn’t just food—it’s an experience that warms the body and soothes the soul. Whether enjoyed after a day of snowy adventures or as the centerpiece of a cozy evening at home, this dish captures the essence of winter comfort.

What sets venison stew apart is its unique depth of flavor. The meat itself, lean and slightly gamey, adds a rustic earthiness that’s a perfect match for the season. Simmered slowly with a hearty aromatic bone broth seasoned with herbs like rosemary and thyme, the flavors meld together into a symphony of taste. Each bite is a reminder of the beauty of simple, wholesome ingredients, elevated by time and care.

Beyond its taste, venison stew embodies a sense of tradition and connection to nature. Whether sourced from a local hunter or specialty butcher, it often carries a story—a link to the wilderness, sustainable practices, and the joy of preparing food with intention. Paired with a chunk of crusty sourdough bread to mop up the rich gravy, or served with a big dollop of sour cream, it becomes more than just a meal; it’s a celebration of winter’s bounty.

Winter is a season of gathering, reflection, and savoring life’s small joys. A steaming bowl of venison stew embodies all of that and more. It’s a dish that not only satisfies your hunger but also warms your heart, making those cold, dark evenings feel just a little brighter. So, this season, if you’re looking for the perfect way to embrace winter’s magic, let a pot of venison stew simmer away—it promises to fill your home with irresistible aromas and your soul with warmth.

Rich, savory, and brimming with robust flavors, carnivore venison stew isn’t just food—it’s an experience that warms the body and soothes the soul.

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs. venison stew meat

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 liters 24hr chicken bone broth

  • Flaked Sea Salt

  • Optional Dirty Carnivore Ingredients (you DO NOT have to add)
  • 2 tablespoons infused with Aurora Borealis

  • 4 tablespoons cornstarch

Directions

  • Turn the crockpot on high and melt the butter. Add the venison. Slowly brown.
  • Add in the dirty carnivore ingredients if wanted. Sprinkle on the 4 tablespoons cornstarch while stirring constantly. Brown a little more. Omit this step if you do not want cornstarch or a thick stew.
  • Add two liters of 24-hour chicken bone broth to the pot. Leave the heat on high for 4 hours and then drop down to the lowest setting. How you season your chicken bone broth is what flavor that will be added to the stew. So, you really don’t need any more seasonings save for salt.
  • Let the pot simmer and the stock reduce and thicken overnight. Total time should be 12 hours start to finish. Finish by seasoning the stew with flaked sea salt to taste. Enjoy in the morning for a hearty breakfast or pack in a thermos for a warm lunch!

Notes

  • Cannabis is technically not Carnivore; however, I see plants as medicine as long as they are extracted correctly and used only when needed.

FAQs

Can I make this without weed?
Of course! These recipes taste amazing both infused and not!

Why cannabis?
When our body is homeostasis, it has no need for cannabis as it is happy. But if negative environmental, lifestyle, genetics, stress, diet and nutrition, alcohol consumption, or health factors are present, the system can become unbalanced, and we now have an endocannabinoid deficiency. This results in things like migraines, fibromyalgia, mood disorders, behavior problems, anxiety, depression, bowl issues, and metabolic issues like not being able to lose weight.

Using cannabis as medicine can restore this balance in the body when combined with a proper carnivore diet. With the goal being, to eventually transition off the cannabis. Think of cannabis as a little dirty carnivore helper, that is going to be the last plant you see before you are 100% successful and in homeostasis. And also think of it as a tool to put in your back pocket in case the unfortunate event of environmental disease or infection (cold or infection) in the future causes your body to fall out of homeostasis again. Life happens. Just remember, cannabis is medicine so use it wisely.

Do I have to add the optional ingredients to the carnivore venison stew?
No! However, for the best stew thickness and richness, I would recommend adding at least the cornstarch.

How to store carnivore venison stew?
It is recommended to store this stew in the refrigerator in glass containers for up to 2 days. Or you can store it in liter mason jars in the freezer for up to 6 months for future meals. Just defrost in the refrigerator overnight and warm up on the stove.
