Vegan Gluten-Free Durban Poison Tahini
In Greece, tahini is usually spread onto bread and then topped with honey or a jam. I am a huge fan of tahini as it is nutritionally dense and can be used in a multitude of different cuisines. This sesame paste is high in calcium, protein, omega-3, omega-6 and fiber. This protein packed paste is perfect for the cannamom on the go, health conscious eater, or someone who needs steady energy throughout their day.
Durban Poison lends a delicious sweet citrus lemony taste with hints of anise and minuscule hints of pine. It is literally as if this strain was made perfectly for the flavors of this dish. When you combine this savory paste with honey, your mouth will take a tour through middle eastern cuisine. Enjoy with a nice big cup of chai, Turkish coffee, or a favorite dark roast coffee for the perfect breakfast, snack, or dessert.
Mise en place:
5 cups toasted sesame seeds
1 1/2 cup Durban Poison olive oil infused with 4-7 grams (Dose as you prefer, see bottom)
Step 1: In a double boiler add 4 grams ground Durban Poison to 1 1/2 cups olive oil.
Step 2: Stir with a wooden spoon until the cannabis is fully saturated with the oil.
Step 3: Simmer this mixture on low for one hour. You want the water bubbling just under a full boil in the bottom pan. While the top pan is at a simmer for the Durban Poison olive oil.
Step 4: After one hour is up, strain the mixture through cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer into a glass container.
Step 5: Let the Durban Poison olive oil cool completely.
Step 6: Discard to strained plant material safely in the trash or use as compost.
Step 7: If you used cheese cloth be sure to reuse the part that the Durban Poision olive oil was strained through. Cut off the clean cloth and save for another use. The cloth that is wet with oil can be used to extract the THC that has been caught in the cloth. Make hot cocoa or chai on the stove and let the cloth soak in the drink until the oil pulls out and bonds with the fat in the drink. Great way to save precious THC!
Step 8: Add the 5 cups of toasted sesame seeds to a food processor and blend for 30 seconds until the seeds break apart.
Step 9: Add 1/4 Durban Poison olive oil and blend again.
Step 10: Keep blending the mixture while slowly adding the rest of the Durban Poison olive oil until you achieve a smooth consistency.
Step 11: Spread onto two slices of your choice of bread and drizzle with local honey.
Step 12: Store the rest in a refrigerator in a tightly sealed container. Enjoy!
If 4 grams of Durban Poison tests at 20 percent THC, 20 percent of 1,000mg would be 200mg. So if you added 4 grams worth of Durban Poison into the total recipe at 20 percent THC, it would contain 800 mg total or 33.3 mg per tablespoon. Substitute the number of your THC percentage and do the math to figure out your dosing. If you want a smaller dose, cut the cannabis down to a smaller portion of grams or adjust the servings as needed. If you want a higher dose, add more cannabis and do the math.
I would recommend strains that possess citrus or pine like terpenes. The following would be ideal if you didn’t have Durban Poison: True OG Kush, Super Silver Haze, Tangerine Haze and Humboldt OG. If you cannot find these strains don’t panic, just follow your nose and taste buds to finds strains that would complement the dish.
