Zero Waste Pinene Cat Litter

Zero Waste: Plant-Based Grocery Haul

Zero Waste: Plant-Based Grocery Haul

🌿Plant-Based Grocery Haul🌿 Eating healthy doesn’t have to break your budget. This is a two week grocery haul for $81.33 or $40.67 per week if you broke it up. I aimed for as much zero waste as possible with this trip. The plastic you do see is recyclable, however click list did sneak in a bag because I forgot to specify in the pick up instructions (shame on me). It was $4.95 for using click list, but you can easily avoid this fee by going into the store yourself. For me, the fee is worth it as it allows me more time to spend with Mary Jane (my daughter not a euphemism πŸ˜†).

Paired with pantry staples such as dried beans, rice, quinoa, lentils, pulses, legumes, gluten-free flour, spices and herbs, canned food, and frozen jar items – I can feed a family of 3 and guests 🍴We generally eat through the entire haul but when a particular food item goes on sale, I stock up on that item and freeze it in Mason jars for future use. Also look for food items in jars as you can clean and re-use the jar to store dry bulk items. Remember, when you buy plastic or glass packaging, the cost of the packaging is included in the food price. So why not buy glass packaged food items and reuse them indefinitely! It will save you money as you won’t have to buy a mason jar πŸ™

On a side note, I have been putting in long hours and sleepless nights updating my website. A plethora of recipes are being archived and the site itself will be refreshed. You can expect to start seeing more of the following content next week: cannabis recipes, kava recipes, zero waste DIY, CBD recipes, sustainability/zero waste tips, and how to save money on cannabis and food. Erik and I have comitted to going Zero Waste. We have both always tried to be as green as possible, but we know the next step is aiming for a zero waste lifestyle. Maybe it was me turning Vegan or him turning into a Flexetarian that caused an awakening. Or maybe it was some really good weed πŸ‘ŒπŸ€£ Either way, I want to teach you all how to make little changes in your life that will help the bigger picture: preserving life on this planet for future generationsπŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§

30 Day CBD Challenge Phase 2: Day 10-25

30 Day CBD Challenge Phase 2: Day 10-25

30 Day CBD Challenge Phase 2: Day 1-3

30 Day CBD Challenge Phase 2: Day 1-3

I finally started running, again. After 3 1/2 years of taking a break from it – I am happily back at it. I used to run every day for several miles even in the middle of Colorado snow storms in Summit County. Strangely, I still have my endurance for long distance flat runs, however I am lacking a quick pace and the ability to plow up inclines. All in good time though. I am just happy to be doing something I love again and sharing that with my daughter (she loves going on runs with me in her stroller or even on foot for a very short while). However, the recovery periods after have been hitting me quite hard. And that is why I can thank the universe and Natural Recovery Greens.

I started running and using this product on June 1st, 2019 and will continue to do so till the end of the month. The first time I consumed this product in my smoothie it reminded me of a supergreen powder that I used to get at whole foods – but this one was exceedingly tastier. After about an hour and 1/2, I noticed an incredibly profound (and I mean, profound!) sense of calm and relaxation. It actually took me off gaurd quite a bit as I noticed a change in my pain – it was gone!

The pain I was experiencing in my lower back from running on gravel, then on the beach, and then carrying my 3 1/2 year old daughter on my back caused a great deal of discomfort. However, that all disappeared after drinking this supplement. It was as if I took a 800mg ibuprofen without any ill side effects such as stomach upset. It was really quite exciting to take a healthy greens supplement that had CBD in it. As this is the first of its kind that I have tried.

I am going to continue to update this blog for the next 30 days to see what impact Natural Recovery Greens has on my running and recovery as well as general inflammation such as migraines. In the meantime, feel free to read what this supplement is all about. Xx!

30 Day CBD Smoothie Challenge – Day 22 & 23

30 Day CBD Smoothie Challenge – Day 22 & 23

I have gone 20 days without a migraine (May 3rd to May 22nd) which has been the longest time frame I can ever remember. As someone who was diagonsed with chronic migraines in 8th grade but has experienced them at a even younger age – this was extrodinary! That is why I was in tears as of yesterday because my 20 day streak ended with a stress and pollution induced migraine.

Stuck in traffic right by Tacoma, I was in back to back traffic. Then the icing on the was a chain tobacco smoker in the HOV lane who puffed one cigg after another for a whole 31 minutes in 80 degree heat. Between that, the construction fumes and car fumes – I was floored with nausea, muscle tension, and a blinding migraine.

When I came home, all I wanted to do was crawl into a cold well and fall asleep, defeated. I wanted to have 30 days of no migraines. I wanted to experience normalcy for once in my life without the burden of having to function with severe chronic migraines. I didn’t want to accept that outside factors outside of my control had resulted in this pain and my regime couldn’t stop it. My body had reached it’s critical mass from outside pollutants and was screaming for help.

I made myself a CBD smoothie, allowed myself to have a huge bowl of shredded jicama, kohlrabi, kale, shredded coconut, and a raw pad Thai dressing. I then nursed a 12oz cup of water and slathered on a THC infused pain salve. After finishing my evening, I crawled into bed and prayed my migraine would pass. However, the next day it was still there.

So, today has been about healing myself through raw foods, herbal teas, filtered water, and my CBD Smoothie Diet. My migraine as of this afternoon has been lifting a bit and I hope by this evening or tomorrow that it will be fully eradicated. I am going to end the night by taking a hot bath before bed with my homemade lavender bath bombs.

All in all, I have to be grateful and thankful for 20 days of no migraines. That in itself is a marvelous feat. I learned that chronic pain can be managed well when the right foods and natural plant medicine are combined. I also learned that this needs to be a lifestyle where daily smoothies and CBD oils are incorporated into my everyday living. Lastly, I confirmed the power of a plant-based diet. Raw smoothies, gluten-free plant based meals on celebration days, and CBD oil the last 23 days have improved my health more than any other diet ever has. For that, I am grateful πŸ™

30 Day CBD Smoothie Challenge – Day 9 through 14

30 Day CBD Smoothie Challenge – Day 7 & 8

30 Day CBD Smoothie Challenge – Day 7 & 8

Day 7: Today was rough, a cold I have been fighting off before I started this diet turned into Bronchitis which went a little south. So I am now on a Z-Pak and using my inhaler as my exercise induced asthma has been triggered by the lung issues. Blah! Surprisingly, even though I have been battling this cold I have had stellar energy delivered by the smoothies. Without them, I feel like I would be camped out on the living room couch or bedroom.

The CBD tincture that I have been using by Flora + Bast has been a life saver as the coughing fits have been tough. It helps me to relax so well and fall asleep so deeply that each night I am able to sleep and recover. Each morning I feel refreshed and well rested even though my body is sick. I am very pleased with the results of this tincture.

Weigh in: 155 lbs down -1.6 lbs from yesterday.

Day 8: My cravings are no longer junk food but rather whole plant-based foods! Wow, I was not expecting this turn of events. I have been turning my nose up at the smell of Vegan junk foods which has made me very happy. Instead, I keep dreaming of large salads full of seeds, vegetables, fruit, and pan fried tofu with made from scratch raw dressings. I want to eat large nori hand rolls stuffed full with a rainbow of vegetables and a side of dressing made of sun butter, hoison sauce, extra virgin olive oil, red chili pepper flakes, and white sesame seeds. Ugh, the food cravings for healthy foods just keeps going on and on. I need to stay off of IG and stop looking at food πŸ€£πŸ™Š

Weigh in: 154.8 lbs. Down -7.2 lbs in 8 days.
